MWC: Orange Partners with Microsoft on Windows Phone 7

Orange has become a Key Partner to Microsoft on Windows Phone 7 and has launched an Expert Assistance service for smartphone owners

Orange is to become a key partner of Microsoft, bringing Windows Phone 7 to its smartphones.

Orange will be one of the first mobile operators to roll out Microsoft Windows Phone 7 giving customers simple, secure access to their online content.

Orange has also announced its latest customer service called Expert Assistance to help Microsoft Windows 7 customers set up their smartphones.

Expert Assistance will be part of the Orange Care portfolio of after sales care services, provided by the mobile operator. Orange claims that this will revolutionise customer care and support to ensure that customers' needs are met and exceeded throughout their lifetime with Orange.

As part of Expert Assistance, new Orange smartphone customers can receive advice on a multitude of queries, such as how to set up web and email access, how to synchronise and back-up a device and how to connect accessories.

The Expert Assistance is opt-in for new smartphone users who would prefer to pay for the convenience and ease of having dedicated support for their smartphone needs.

There is even the option for Orange experts to be able to connect directly to a customer's device - in the same way that IT helpdesks can remotely control a PC to solve performance issues - offering real-time, hands on help to customers. However this will not be available straightaway in the UK.

Launching in quarter two of 2010, the service will be available first in France, Switzerland, UK, Poland, Slovakia, Spain, Romania, Moldova and Belgium.

Orange has not yet revealed the cost of the opt-in service.
